One of the important steps in our beauty routines that is often overlooked is the one of exfoliating our scalp. I must admit that even though I have done this before, it’s not something that I’ve ever placed that much emphasis on in my curly hair routine. But looking after your scalp as much as you look after your hair is essential if you want flourishing, healthy locks.

“Another step to the cleansing routine!” I hear you say. Don’t worry. This is not a complicated, or lengthy step at all. All that is required is a bit of scalp massage once a month to improve the overall look and feel of your hair. The reason for this is that exfoliating your scalp will help to remove impurities and dead skin cells that build up on the scalp’s surface, along with product build-up, thereby stimulating hair follicles and encouraging healthy hair growth.

Our scalp is an extension of the skin on our face and if you follow a healthy skin care routine, it would naturally include some type of regular exfoliation, so it stands to reason that you should frequently exfoliate your scalp too. A really easy way to incorporate regular exfoliation into your hair cleansing routine would be to use Boucleme’s new Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo. Formulated with non-abrasive hydrogenated castor oil beads it’s the ideal way to achieve a healthy clean scalp.

The best way to use it is to wet the hair thoroughly, apply a generous amount of the product to fingertips and massage throughout the scalp in a circular motion. What I love about the Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo is that has a  fresh, almost minty scent to it and leaves my scalp feeling quite tingly, adding to that deep-cleaned feeling. Once you’ve rinsed it out of your hair, following it up with the Intensive Moisture Treatment will restore all moisture to the hair. In fact, the Scalp Exfoliating Shampoo and Intensive Moisture Treatment are BFF’s, so it’s highly recommended to use the two together to achieve optimum moisture, strength and shine, and generally revitalizing the hair to improve curl definition and elasticity.

Have you exfoliated your scalp before? If so, how often do you incorporate it into your hair care routine? #curlcarelikeskincare
